CRYSTAL GABLES ADDITION

What can you do when you have the perfect lot, the perfect view, and wonderful neighbors, but your house is a small weekend log cabin? Adding only square footage was not the answer to this addition. It took on three-dimensional proportions to develop this design and solve several issues. The entrance to the existing cabin was down an embankment, making the stairs in the winter very dangerous with icing. To make this a permanent home, a new master suite was needed with the best possible views and a wonderful Master Bath. A great room with great volume was the key to bring these two entities into a whole. Glass gables expanded the view from all levels and added light. The main entry to the house was designed with a covered bridge into a loft floor entrance opening into the great room. This new entry provides all the protection from the elements and eliminates steps from the driveway into the house.
