THE GUEST HOUSE ADDITION

This couple wanted to have space for a workshop for the husband next to the main house. Due to the scale of the existing structure, a small/low building space would have looked awkward. They decided they needed additional space for guests and we proceeded to design a Master Suite for guests to make visitors welcome and also provide the space below for the large shop. The use of log walls makes the space seem intimate although it is very open. The use of king post trusses adds not only structural but an attractive visual detail. Cove lighting with walnut trim details accent the white pine rafters. All windows, doors and base are trimmed in walnut accenting outling these details. The Dressing Area has the soaring ceiling, but windows, mirrors, and chandelier bring it back into human scale. The shower area is spacious with whimsical wave in glass mosaic tile, the walls are ceramic tile with stone accents. The toilet room has a walnut table with vessel sink and walnut trim throughout. The main purpose of this project was to provide the couple plenty of opportunity to use their woodworking and creative skills since they built the whole project from beginning to end, a labor of love.
